Cellon Oak Family Session | Cowart Family Gainesville FL

A breezy spring evening under the oaks

This Cellon Oak Park family session was everything spring in Florida should feel like… soft, golden light, a gentle breeze moving through the trees, and that easy, unhurried energy that lets moments unfold naturally.

As the evening settled in, the Cowart family stepped into a beautiful night, one of my favorite hidden gems for sessions in North Florida. From the very beginning it felt less like a photoshoot and more like time spent together. Relaxed, playful, and completely present with each other… exactly how it should be.

If you’re looking for a Gainesville Florida family photographer who captures moments like this, you’re in the right place.

Meet the Cowart Family | Cellon Oak family session in Gainesville

Jessica and Thomas are right in the middle of raising two incredible kids, Rylee (10) and Mason (6). That sweet in-between season where personalities are big, laughter comes easy, and everything feels like it’s changing just a little too fast.

From the start, they came into their session wanting a mix of candid moments and lightly guided portraits, which is always the perfect balance. Enough structure to create those timeless images, but plenty of space for the real, unscripted moments to shine.

And this family? They made it effortless.

The moments you don’t plan

A soft breeze picked up just enough to bring movement into everything… hair, dresses, the trees overhead. Meanwhile, light filtered through the oak branches in the softest way, wrapping everything in that warm glow that makes you slow down without even realizing it.

Mason brought the energy, the kind that turns simple prompts into laughter within seconds. At the same time, Rylee had this quiet confidence about her, completely natural in front of the camera but still so connected to her family.

Add in a few jokes, some tickles, and those little bursts of laughter that come out of nowhere… and suddenly you’re not “taking photos” anymore. You’re just documenting what already exists.

Those are always the moments that matter most.

Candid moments from a Cellon Oak family session

We made sure to create space for the moments that mattered most to Jessica, too.

Photos of the kids together… a mix of sweet and playful. Individual portraits that capture exactly who they are right now. And those meaningful combinations that will only grow more valuable with time… both kids with mom, both kids with dad.

We moved seamlessly between it all. One minute full of movement and laughter, the next a quiet, connected pause under the oak. That balance is where everything comes to life.

Why this Gainesville family session at Cellon Oak matters

The Cowarts described themselves as easygoing… and they truly are. But what stood out even more was how present they are with each other. No pressure, no overthinking. Just showing up and loving their people well.

That’s exactly what makes a gallery feel the way theirs does. Honest. Warm. Full of emotion and those in-between moments you don’t realize are happening until you see them frozen in time.

Because years from now, it won’t be about perfectly posed photos. It will be about remembering how this season felt.

The laughter. The movement. The way Mason instinctively reaches for their hands. The way Rylee is growing into herself but still leans in close.

That’s the story. And it’s a really beautiful one.

Planning Your Cellon Oak Park Family Session in Gainesville Florida

If you’re dreaming of a session like this, Cellon Oak Park is one of those locations that always delivers. The massive oak, the open space, the way the light filters through in the evening… it creates the perfect setting for connection and movement without feeling forced.

So, my biggest advice is to keep it simple. You don’t need perfectly coordinated outfits or perfectly behaved kids. You just need to show up as you are.
